Plus One Optional
A travel blog about going places, whether you have someone to go with or not. Find solo travel stories, destination guides, itineraries, budgets, and a little inspiration to go anyway.

A Quick introduction
Hi, I’m Alyssa!
I’m 27, I work in college athletics, and this year I decided to start taking solo trips.
My travel style can be described as all over the place. I’m impulsive, I like to plan, and somehow I manage to do both at the same time. I’ll get all the logistics down and then completely change my plans once I get there because I saw something that looked interesting.
I’ve also realized that I’m much more at home in nature than I am in big cities. Give me a scenic drive, mountain views, and quiet beaches over crowded downtowns and bumper to bumper traffic.
Plus One Optional is where I’m sharing those trips, along with the things I learn, the places I love, the mistakes I make, and hopefully a little inspiration for anyone who wants to go somewhere but doesn’t have someone to go with.
Because sometimes you just have to go anyway. I hope you follow along and find some inspiration along the way!
xoxo,
Alyssa

Photography has always been a huge part of how I experience these trips. I love capturing the little moments, the big views, and all the in-between that make a place feel special.
